2H7-14462-10-00 Seal for Air Cleaner Intake
« on: August 10, 2019, 09:44:52 PM »
Hi Folks,

In rebuilding the airbox on my 1980 XS1100LG, I find that the "seal", P/N 2H7-14462-10-00, is missing.  Looking over the parts lists it is depicted as a small cube.  Could be anything though I suspect it is some sort of air trap that Yamaha located at the low point in the air box.  None of the usual parts houses carry it nor do I find one on eBay.

What is it and does anyone have a line on a replacement?  Or does someone have an idea of what can be placed here to serve the same function?

Thanks,

Glen

That part is no longer available new.
Try a breakers yard or maybe buy an old airbox with the part still attached.

Interesting thought... But don't you need 'members' for a 'Club'..?

If you can't bleed your bike's brakes then you can't have a bike.

XS1100 - it's old fookin' hat.

I remember that this is just a small square piece of sponge, the hole is so that any unburnt oil can drain out of the airbox. The oil-soaked sponge just acts as a bit of a filter for the hole.

I just snipped off the corner of a car washing sponge, trimmed it into a cube and used that.
