Non XS new bike
« on: March 11, 2019, 10:47:44 PM »
Strangely enough I've just bought one of these, only in black.

Look familiar..?  97 - 04 Speed Triple...

Mmmm, recently bought one of the first, a 955(?) for 750 euros, only 30k kilometers. Gave it a full service but at the first outing on the track at moderate speed the engine seized .... I hope you have more luck with yours

Mine is the T509, its 885cc, not as powerful as the later ones but the same as the XS11 and lighter so will suit me.

Nice bike Tom.Are you going to be using a diagnostic tool for servicing certain parts of the bike? Or your own methods?
I use DealerTool and TigerTool for my Triumph though i've heard TUNEecu is quite good as well.

Interesting thought... But don't you need 'members' for a 'Club'..?

If you can't bleed your bike's brakes then you can't have a bike.

XS1100 - it's old fookin' hat.

I'll get to stuff like that later Alex, I have the Haynes manual which will no doubt tell me what I need.

It is from the last century so still in my era, I'm not sure they had stuff like that on them, I 'spose they must have, its got fuel injection.

Pretty sure is FI mate. Though throttle bodies can be balanced with traditional carb synchronisers if need be.
DealerTool and TUNEecu will save you a packet over the stealers. DT is about 60, don't know about TE.

It has a standard pipe, so nice and quiet. I'm looking out for a silencer a little smaller just for fitting the panniers. And maybe a little more noise

Came to work on it this morning, finally managed to fire it up after remembering to pull the clutch in, warmed a little, put in gear and cuts out  :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated:

Tried again - the same thing, PIECE OF sh*t!!! getting really unhappy after this happened repeatedly, then realised sidestand was down, stand up, into gear and off we go.     :hitme: :hitme: :hitme: :hitme: :hitme:

Bloody modern crap, that'll have to get bypassed like it did on my XS1100 Sport.

My bird Sharon did her CBT (again, coz she couldn't find the original certificate ) on a Kwak 650, few days later went for the Mod 1 (swerve/slalom/figure of eight/walking pace/U-turn) but failed by dabbing a foot on the U-turn .

A few days later days later got a cancellation and did it again and passed :cheer:    ......and had the road test the next day and passed that too. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

And this weekend I got her first Yam shaftie, not an XS1100 but near enough. Been stood for two years, had it running but needs recommissioning.
