Is the 'cut away' XS1100 still in the science museum in London (last time I went was in the 80's).

No, it's in the archive Science Museum hanger in Wroughton, Wiltshire (aka National Collections Centre) . It's been here for quite a few years and is
my avtar!

I used to pop in for a gander as it's only 5 miles away from my house. Hasn't been open to the public for a little while but they're in the process of constructing a new purpose build exhibition centre on the same site.  :cool:

Cheers Andy - you're Swindon way aren't you - I didn't really appreciate what I was looking at when I saw it in London all those years ago so wouldn't mind having another look at it should it become accessible again so maybe in the future ....
